Gill in action
Played first at club level (New Milton), captain of Hampshire juniors & later played for Southampton WHC and for Hampshire seniors.
Started umpire when commenced teaching PE at Priestlands School in Lymington, Hants, 1978 when had to possess a qualification.

international tournament (U21 level) in Paris on artificial turf.
1990 promoted to Grade 1 1991 to Cuba (Pan American Games) -same year promoted World Cup & Olympic List,
Olympic Games ~ Barcelona ’92, Atlanta ’96, Sydney 2000, first English/British woman to umpire final (Atlanta) & at 3 Olympic Games
Umpired 2 World Cups (Dublin 1996, Utrecht 1998) both of which I did the final.
Umpired finals of both Champions Trophy and Pan American Games

English woman to umpire 100 internationals
In 1999 awarded an MBE for services to women’s hockey and hockey umpiring and became the first ‘active’ umpire to receive such an award.
2003 – appointed to FIH Hockey Rules Board & Umpiring Committee
